Welcome to the
American Classic Car Club (Canterbury) Inc
The club was formed during the 1970’s. It continues to be a strong club of like-minded people of all ages, like-minded in that all of our members have a passion for American Classic Cars.
Club members are owners of a very wide range of American Classic Cars ranging from the 1930’s to the 1990’s. The cars range from those that are impeccably restored to those that are a work in progress.
A Committee of eleven members, led by a Club President are elected by members of the club at the A.G.M. The Committee puts much effort in to organising interesting and varied events. Twice in each month we organise a get together. These events range from car cruises to a picnic area or to a restaurant/ hotel. Some events involve answering questions along the way and prizes at the final destinations.
We also visit car collections, car shows, support charity events and events which are of interest to club members.
Important Events
Check our Events page for current or upcoming events!
The Club has several events which occur annually. The biggest of these is the USA DAY Car Show which is held at Gladstone Park in Woodend. A fantastic collection of approximately four hundred and fifty American Classic Cars come along on the day. This makes a wonderful display, not only for Classic Car enthusiasts but also for visitors to the event. The judges have a very difficult job as the standard of the cars presented is very high. There are many categories therefore many owners get a chance to take home a prize.
The Club has a great Barbeque trailer which is used at several events during the year. The Poker Run and The Annual Run have Club members cruising around Canterbury looking for cards or clues. For both events there are trophies and prizes for the winners. The events finish with a cook up on the Barbeque and a chance to socialize with other Club members.
Santa is a regular visitor to the End of Year Picnic. He arrives in a Classic car and gives out gifts to the children as well as leading a lolly scramble. Barbeque food and the opportunity to relax and enjoy the company of Club members and their families, with some tyre kicking thrown in for good measure make this event a great finish to our year.
Keeping in Touch
At the beginning of each month a newsletter is emailed or posted to all Club members. This reminds them of events coming up during that month and tells them of the details. The newsletter also keeps members informed of all other matters relating to the Club.
Four times a year ‘White Walls’, the Club magazine is posted to all Club members. Printed in both black and white and colour, the magazine reviews events of the past three months, advertises relevant products and services, introduces new members, gives space for Club members to buy sell or exchange car related items and tells a yarn or two.
